PLEASE NOTE: The conference is not providing canoes. Okefenokee only has 50 canoes to rent. The normally do not take money for the canoes until the morning of the day you are renting the canoe, however they stated if you tell them we are SDA's and would rather pay on Friday they will do that. so mention that to them at the time of reserving your canoes.
Camping: Is in a pioneer area with a port-a-let and outdoor shower. (You can take showers at the campground however you need to pick up a Shower token at the camp office if you want to use them. Cost is $1.00 per person).
January 4 update: The itinerary for the weekend is simple.
Make sure you all are in by 10:00 PM as they close the gates to the park. If you arrive at the park after the ranger station is closed the primitive campground is just past the entrance then left. there is small parking lot so park tight. You will have to walk your gear into the primitive area, so pack light. Also, your food items will need to be secured, the raccoons will get in them. (Just ask Gloria & Harry about that). The next morning you will have to check in at the park office to make sure you have your vehicle pass. Also, as before you will need to have someone at the office by 8:00 am to make sure you get your canoes. They only hold the reservations for about and hour I believe. They will supply the life jackets and paddles. If you have your own life jacket you may bring it. We would suggest a sack lunch for Sabbath.
Our guest speaker for the weekend is Lyle Petry.
We have Friday evening worship around 7:30 or 8:00 PM
Sabbath morning you are on your own for worship so you can get out canoeing for the day.
Sabbath evening we will have church around 7:00 PM
This is a very relaxing weekend to enjoy God's nature.
Sunday you can leave whenever you get around, we have nothing planned for Sunday as some of the groups need to get on the road back home.
Look forward to seeing you there.
